Sayaw ng Silangan

Sayaw ng Silangan, which translates to “Dance of the East,” was founded in 1977 and was modeled after the prestigious Bayanihan Philippine National Folk Dance Company. It comprises several suites, each representing a different time period or region in the Philippines. Our aim is to not just discover more about our culture, but also to share it with the greater community in and outside of UCLA.

You have probably seen us perform at different events on campus such as Bruin Life Weekend (BLW), Pilipino Welcome Reception (PWR), and SProm; however, Sayaw ng Silangan gets to perform at more than just SPCN and is sometimes requested at events held by largely impactful figures. Some of the places we’ve performed at outside of UCLA include 626 Night Market and Los Angeles City Hall.
